Ann Thomas is at says I am at present living with
my Mother Mary Williams (she has married a second
time) at Abercarne - I lived for a week at the house
of Thomas Duffield ^ Jr at Risca that is from the 28th
October to the 4th November - I was not out of
Duffield's house all day Sunday - Duffield & his
Wife were at home all day at least I do not think
Duffield went farther than the Malthouse that was
towards the Evening - About 9 that Evening nearly
20 persons Chartists came into the house & had beer which
______________________they were not armed
they paid for - & went out again ^ I asked some of them
what was the matter - they said I should see bye & bye.
Presently many more came in - Some had guns some
pikes some nothing at all - they wanted beer which was
refused them at first but they would not go without it
& it was drawn for them - People kept coming in & going
out & having beer with until about 2 O-clock in the
morning when the house was cleared & I went to bed &
Duffield went to bed also - I had been in bed about
half an hour when Duffield called I heard a loud
