Reg. v. Unknown Persons
Charles Maisey - I am in the employ
of Mr John Llewellin of Abecarne I
live in the yard adjoining Mr Llewellin's
House- I was at home on Sunday
the 3rd November instant all day that
day- I was informed in the Evening
of that day by William Edwards of
Twyn Gwyn
that the Chartists would
come down that Evening - that they
were going down to Newport - I
then went to my Master's House - I
went to the kitchen - I saw my Master
there- I told him what I had heard-
About half past nine o'clock on the
same Sunday night I heard a loud
knock at the kitchen door - I
instantly ran to the Parlour and said
to my Master "Master the men we
expected are come" I was greatly
alarmed- My Master's niece who
was in the passage directed me to
go into the office- I went into the
office- I was about to the shut the
door when it was opened by some one
on the outside - a man entered and
said addressing others outside "Here's
a man"- He then put his hand
upon my shoulder and said "you
must go with us"- He then directed
two men to take care of me - these
men were armed with sticks -
one of them gave me a walking
