Benjamin Strickland sworn says - I live at
Quarry Mawr and keep the machine there and am Agent to the -
Sirhowy Tram Road Company. I remember a great many men

that I heard was halt and at the instant knocking at the door of -
my house - the door was fastened with a bolt - a lock and safety

at Eight o'clock the same Evening which induced me to load my
Gun and Pistols and to take them & my sword into my Bed room

My wife and six Children came down stairs and screamed. I
said to them be peacable, keep back. I don't think they will
hurt us. A man with a Hay pike stood between me and my
Parlour door. they asked me where my arms were. I told
them I had none. some one outside said where is your Gun
I said I had lent it to one of Sir Charles Morgan's keepers on Friday
- I had not done so - they took a new Lanthon and nearly
four pounds of Candles out of my House. they took 21/2 loaves
of bread and about 8 " of cheese. a walking stick and a yard

another party called and asked for light. the last party
