________________________________Thomas [Habbakuk]
in the town of Newport where I saw MathewHabbakuk
Monkey's Row a former Landlord of mine
whilst I was with Mr Perkins
^ I went to his house and there I stopped and got dinner there.

I saw a Chaise at the Welsh Oak coming down towards Newport
they stopped the chaise and would not let it proceed, they
told the Driver - they told if he offered to go on they would
shoot one of the horses - I sawYoung Davies at the Welsh
and afterwards at Pye Corner where he passed us on
horseback towards Newport.
He was very active in the
crowd - John Frost was very active - Young Edmunds
was also very active - He is the oldest son of Wm Edmunds
the last place I saw young Edmunds was in front of the
with Frost & two others whom I do not know -

they were armed and in front of the Mob leading them
Just before they came to the Waterloo I heard John Frost
tell them to fall in - I saw Henry Harris
who keeps the
Star at Pontllanfraith
with us all the way along - he
carried a Gun and a large quantity of candles in his pockets.
I heard him tell the men to come on come, x don't keep behind,
any man that deserts will be shot - I heard George
Tillett say - remember my men an eye shall be kept upon
you and every man that don't turn out shall be shot.
I saw a man of the name of Beech a collier at Gelly grose,
