not get into the House I heard them
say they were coming to Newport
that Newport would soon be
worth nothing. I heard a man say
(who said to he came from the Town)
that there were only 60 Soldiers in
Newport. I heard them say they shod
begin their work about the Poor House.
Many people came to the room
I was in and asked if Mr Frost was
there I heard them say he was
gone to the Cefn to meet Jones
of Pontypool

^and the his Men as he had promised
to meet them there I also heard that
they were to have been at Newport
at one Oclock that night I think
they did not go in consequence
of the others not meeting them.
The men marched away between
________Oclock in the mo-g
6 & 7 near 7^ it was daylight.
About 1/2 past 9 I saw the Men
running back I saw a Man
he … a Mr Watts of Gelligros
on Horseback who said they
were running away in all
