They went as far as Abercarne - when being
reluctant to go further they urged me still
more and at last pushed me and three others
into the Canal - We went into some House
to dry ourselves - and went back about
half past 6 o' Clock - we were met by 20
or 30 others - who inst insisted upon our going
to Newport with them - We reached Sir
Charles Morgan's Park
between 9 & 10 o' Clock
where we met hundreds running back -
without arms and some without Hats -
I heard some of them say " The devil
shall have me before I will go with them again -
They said the Soldiers were shooting them -
and pursuing them - and they had dropp'd
several of them - The Gangs went into Ebbw
and compelled people to go with
them breaking the doors open and taking
the people with them.
